What is the Extention Basin?
 |
The Extention Basin is a patented stormwater management system that
uses a "set" of control structures and should be used
where stormwater detention is needed for land developments and where the
owner desires to minimize cost by using the lowest stormwater storage
possible.
The Extention Basin operates on standard hydraulic principles. |
|
|
What does the Extention Basin do? |
The Extention Basin is a solution to reduce peak flows
from ALL design storms
using the least possible storage volume - generally providing a 35% to 50%
reduction in storage volume.
The Extention Basin integrates all other required storage
amounts,
such as runoff volume reduction, channel protection volume and water quality volume. It does
this by
distributing flows using optimized flow control panels.
The Extention Basin controls final peak timing to closely match
original watershed peak timing making land developments nearly
transparent in the hydrologic environment.
The Extention Basin system uses the minimal land area
and storage volume possible. The extention basin does not "treat" stormwater,
it is not a BMP - it merely distributes stormwater to other BMP's and
detention systems based on the regulatory requirements. The Design
Engineer may specify any form of treatment or BMP. |
|
|
Are These in Operation? |
Yes, this system works - and all claims to their
effectiveness are provable. This is the only system that reduces
stormwater volume. There are about a dozen designs ready to be installed as of
Jan 2010. |

A typical
EBS consists of a detention section, a water quality section and sometimes a
section to infiltrate excess volume.
Our proprietary software computes flow distributions to
minimize total stormwater storage and we provide the Flow Control Panels to
make it all work. |
